Fan's Tale: My 2022 World Cup Adventure!!




I am a regular football fan. I started watching football when I was five, and I support Argentina just because of Messi. I started liking football just because of Messi. I watched the 2010 World Cup, 2014 World Cup, and 2018 World Cup, but unfortunately Messi couldn't win a World Cup. The 2022 World Cup was the last World Cup of Leo Messi's career. I was hoping that Messi would win the World Cup, and for that reason we were waiting for the World Cup for a very long time. But when the World Cup started, my HSC exam also started. I was so upset that i will not be able to enjoy the match properly. It was hard for me to manage my studies, so it was really hard for me to watch every game while the exam was going on.  But I still managed it and I watched each and every match of Argentina and in our area. Even then I bought two jerseys. It was also a hectic thing because I wanted to print the name front of Messi, but one particular jersey doesn’t have the front and I asked them to ship it from another showroom . and it was delivered to me just right before the World Cup began. Even my younger brothers also bought a flag and jersey of Argentina and hung the flag in the balcony. 



We are a large group of Argentine fans, and we started our preparation before the World Cup. We customise an Argentine flag for our building. We bought fabrics from the market. After that, we painted the flag, and after that, we hung the flag on the whole building, and it was eye-catching for everyone. Everyone visited the flag from our area. After that, we arranged a watching party; we bought a projector, and after that, we set up a football watch party on our rooftop. Even we manage the committee for the chair and the community hall on the rooftop. It’s not just about the Argentinian football craze, it's all about the football World Cup craze. We have three different sides. We have a big Brazilian flag, a German flag and an Argentina flag. Our flag  was hung from the 13th floor to the ground floor. It was the epic thing we have done.  

Everyone was welcomed at our watch party . Every person from our building watched the World Cup match there. In the first match Argentina lost, and we were so sad, and the next day I had a physics exam, and I couldn't prepare well for the exam just because of Argentina. Lost the game after that. Argentina was winning each and every match regularly, and we were also celebrating each and every match. Finally we managed to reach the final, and it was a very exciting and tense moment for us. We had three generations of people gathering together to watch the match. It was a really incredible experience that all these generations of people are enjoying one match . And everyone has a different experience of their own.

Then The match started. We had an arrangement for that day. We arranged for a barbecue party, and after that match we are going to have that party, and in the final, that was the best match I have ever seen in my life. Argentina was two up, and after that France scored two back to back goal,and the score became 

  the same . Then the match came to an end in extra time. In extra time, Argentina scored first. Thereafter, everyone is thinking that Argentina is going to win this match and Messi is going to lift the World Cup for the very first time, but unfortunately, France scored again, and after that, the games come to an end on penalty. The Argentinian goalkeeper saved a goal in the 120th minute of the match, it was one of the nerve wracking  moments of the whole match.In the penalty it was 50% luck and we were very shocked. We are crying. Some of us were  praying to god, and I was totally numb at that time because I already had those same feelings before because in 2014 Argentina was in the final and Argentina lost the game against Germany. Win the World Cup that time, and that was a very heartbroken moment for me, and I was thinking the same thing again. My heart is going to break, but this time Argentina won the World Cup. My idol Messi won his first world cup and I have seen this with my eyes. Then we celebrated the victory very well. We put down our flag and we started our rally. We rallied from our whole area with lots of Argentine fans. We enjoyed it a lot. And we were dancing around the street, and we were using instruments to celebrate, and that was a very enjoyable moment for everyone. We celebrated like it was our last day, and we enjoyed it a lot. 


After that, we really came to our building then we had that barbecue party. We enjoyed it a lot the next day and we celebrated again. It was a very beautiful moment for me because I have been an Argentina fan since I was a kid, so I really enjoyed that day, and that day I really enjoyed it a lot, that was one of the best memories of my life, and maybe that is the all-time best memory of my life. 

And after the world cup , we also had a friendly match between us to celebrate the World Cup craze of Argentina and Brazil. In that match the Argentinian group again won, and that was a really fun moment for us that we are celebrating like we won the World Cup just between us.

 I guess it's a lifetime experience that will last for my whole life.
